This 5-storey Townhouse was re-worked to create more usable space for a family in North-West London – including a refurbished lower ground floor with a rear extension, and reconfigured bedrooms and bathrooms on the upper floors.
The existing compartmentalised lower ground floor was dark and disconnected from the rear garden. Through the introduction of a new full-width, rear opening, and by opening the floor-plan, the house visually extends out to the tropical garden – blurring the boundary between inside and out.
Working closely with the client, the material palette was carefully considered throughout. Polished concrete floors and worktops, bespoke-made cabinetry with timber inserts and bronze ironmongery, added both warmth and depth to this modernised home.
